Bench-to-bench salesman

bench to bench salesman

So the conversation probably went a bit like this......

Man with the bag: Mornin' pet, do you want to buy some tabs....good price, good price
Old biddy on the bench: Eeee no pet, aaah divvent smoke
Man with the bag: What aboot fer yer auld man, or one of the bairns or grandbairns mebbe?
Old biddy on the bench: Naa, naa, not today pet
Man with the bag: Now are ya sure aa can't tempt ya?
Old biddy on the bench: Wey no man, aav'e just telt yer
Man with the bag: Aall reet, aall reet, keep yer hair on wumman....

NB I know he was selling cigarettes because I was the previous old biddy on a bench he tried his silver-tongued charm on....the rest, of course, is pure conjecture.....

The deed is done!

This one's from last night, really threatening skies over the North Sea but bright sunshine on the coast....dramatic stuff! I had to go up to town today to hand in my 'acceptance letter' to the HR department (didn't quite trust it to the postal system!) and I nearly melted, it was stifling even though there was a breeze.....one thing I definitely WON'T miss is shopping in town in the summer!

OTHER STUFF

"UNphotographable is a catalog of exceptional mistakes. Photos never taken that weren't meant to be forgotten. Opportunities missed. Simple failures. Occasions when I wished I'd taken the picture, or not forgotten the camera, or had been brave enough to click the shutter."

An old one

mosely street, originally uploaded by moclaydon.
This is Mosley St, Newcastle,  the first street in the UK to be lit by electric light.....I made a half-hearted attempt at sorting out my old pics tonight, but obviously I didn't get far, I took this one mid January!!

Nearer my god to thee

View from the office window this morning....across the way is the Newcastle Unitarian Church, probably the last Art Deco building erected around here (all original interiors, pagan caretaker, almost sure he's the chap in the middle!).....this is a shot of a bit of the roof. Hey, it's Thursday, I'm braindead, don't expect miracles!

Reinventing the city

Sooooo....it's been a long time....maybe I should have named this post Reinventing wor::site! Expect more pictures but a lot of the same old silly links....see how it goes eh?
By the way the REAL Reinventing the City looks good, it runs from 19th September to 11th October....
"Reinventing the City explores Tyneside’s re-imagination of itself through 200 years of industrial and post-industrial change.
Tyneside has been at the forefront of change and over the years artists have criticised, promoted and documented the process. The story is mirrored across the world, but the streets of NewcastleGateshead told it first and still tell it best.
Discover the art and architecture, the characters, the visions and the plans that made Tyneside what it is today. Through a series of events, tours, debates and exhibitions, Reinventing the City will question the reshaping of Tyneside, from the founding of the Lit & Phil in the late 1700’s to the NewcastleGateshead we see around us in 2009."
